At your 36 week appointment, we will be drawing another blood sample for a Complete Blood Count (CBC). The CBC tells us important information about your blood- like the concentration of hemoglobin (iron) and the platelet count (blood clotting factor).

The State of Texas requires that midwives test all clients for HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B in the 3rd trimester. We will draw labs for this too.

We will also collect a sample for a Group B Strep (GBS) culture. (Actually, we will give you instructions on how to collect the sample yourself.)

You will not need to prepare in advance for any of these tests.
